BANKA, June 26 -- A 40-year- old man was arrested late Tuesday evening for allegedly raping his two minor daughters at a village in Bihar's Banka district, police said. The heinous crime took place on June 15 but came to light on Tuesday evening when the grandfather of the minor girls lodged a complaint with Rajaun police station in which he accused his son of sexually assaulting his daughters for over a year. The girls, who are at present staying with their grandfather, also narrated their ordeal to the police. Police have started an investigation. The complainant, who is the father of the accused, alleged that his son, a habitual drunkard, had been committing the crime for over a year despite the fact they continued to oppose his move. "He even thrashed his wife when she tried to protect her daughters from her husband and committed crime in an inebriated state," the complainant told police. "The daughters narrated their ordeal to me and I was left with no option and lodged the complaint with police," the grandfather of the minor daughters said, stating "I want police to take stringent action against my son as he committed a heinous crime." Station house officer (SHO) Chandradeep Kumar, while confirming the arrest of the father, said he would be sent to jail under various sections and added "The case has been registered under POCSO (Protection of children from sexual offences) Act and further probe is underway." He said that the medical examination of the girls is being conducted. On the other hand, the accused father ruled out the charges levelled against him and claimed that the medical report would reveal the truth. "I have been implicated in false cases," he alleged and admitted, "I have been a drunkard and hence my wife doesn't live with me and my father looks after my daughters." Meanwhile, the accused father was produced before the local court on Wednesday and remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway....
