SAMASTIPUR, June 16 -- In a heart-wrenching incident, five people, including three from Bihar's Samastipur lost their lives in a road accident on the Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday morning, police said. They were travelling in an ambulance from Haryana to Samastipur, carrying the body of Ashok Sharma, a resident of Rambhadrapur village under Kalyanpur police station. According to reports, the ambulance collided head-on with a fish-laden pickup vehicle early Sunday morning. The impact of the collision was so severe that six of the five occupants of the ambulance died on the spot, while another person was critically injured. The deceased have been identified as Rajkumar Sharma alias Satish Sharma (30), son of the deceased Ashok Sharma; Ravi Sharma (27), son of Balram Sharma and Phulo Sharma, son of late Ram Prasad Sharma of Ravi Tola under Hathauri police station; the ambulance drivers, Sarfaraz and Abid, both residents of Haryana, also died in the incident. The injured had been identified as Shambhu Rai, son of Yugeshwar Rai from Ward No. 8 of Purnahi Panchayat under Warisnagar police station. He is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Uttar Pradesh. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shailendra Kumar Singh of Amethi confirmed the details, stating that the ambulance was en route from Faridabad with the mortal remains of Ashok Sharma when the tragic collision occurred. Family members revealed that Ashok Sharma had gone to Delhi on June 12 and passed away due to a heart attack a day later. He used to work as carpenter. His son, Rajkumar, who worked in a factory in Delhi and was the youngest of three brothers, was bringing his father's body back home for the last rites. Ravi Sharma, also employed in Delhi and a close family friend, had joined him in the journey. Villagers recalled that both Rajkumar and Ravi had spoken to their mothers early Sunday morning. Just half an hour later, news of their untimely deaths plunged the entire village into mourning....
