Lok Sabha in-charges to draw poll strategy
PATNA, Sept. 4 -- Union home minister Amit Shah has asked the Bihar BJP leaders to fan out among people and at panchayat levels to take BJP's programmes, policies and work done by both the Central and state governments. He was chairing the core committee of Bihar BJP in New Delhi on Wednesday to discuss different aspects of the state elections.
The Bihar Assembly elections are expected in October or November this year, although the Election Commission of India (ECI) is yet to announce the official schedule.
"The meeting discussed several issues and future programmes in the run-up to the elections and chalked out strategy for those programmes," said BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal. "It was decided to appoint in-charge for each Lok Sabha seat which has 6-7 assembly seats and form the election campaign committee at the earliest. The in-charge, who will be from other states, would draw the strategy for respective assembly seats," said Jaiswal.
"Shah asked the BJP leaders to interact more with aam aadmi (common people) and hold panchayat-level programmes of the NDA and asked to finish Karyakarta Sammelan being held at each assembly segment by September 26," said the BJP state president. He also took feedback on the ongoing NDA Sammelan at each assembly constituency which began on August 25.
"Under the leadership of Nitish Kumar and PM Modi, the state has carried out tremendous development work. We were asked to take this to all people and contest elections on the development plank," he said.
The meeting also discussed preparations for the proposed PM visit to Purnea on September 15.
The meeting assumed significance as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is yet to finalise the seat-sharing formula for the polls. In Bihar, the NDA consists of the BJP, Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal-United JD(U), Chirag Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) of Upendra Kushwaha.
BJP leaders said the seat sharing issue was not discussed and it would come for discussion after holding talks with alliance partners. "The seat-sharing is decided by the central committee," clarified Jaiswal.
BJP leaders said the party was going to make the issue of use of abusive language an important agenda. The party has already announced a five-hour Bihar bandh on Thursday. "This is going to be used as a weapon to counter the opposition's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign," said a BJP leader.
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has already taken out a 'Voter Rights Yatra' in Bihar on the issue of irregularities in the voter list, which got a good response. The NDA does not seem to have any major solution to this issue yet. It is believed that a solution to the opposition's SIR issue will be found in this meeting chaired by Amit Shah....
