Ranchi, March 24 -- Vegetable prices soared double in Ranchi markets on Monday, a day after announcement of lockdown by the Hemant Soren government on Sunday in a bid to check spread of coronavirus in the state.
However, vegetable growers are not getting the benefit of high veggie prices. Many of the growers are forced to throw their produces or feed them to the domestic animals, as they are not getting even half of the production cost. They seek government interventions.
On Monday morning, buyers thronged different markets to buy vegetable, which has been exempted from the purview of lockdown, in Ranchi. But prices were skyrocketing.
