LJP (R) leader's son beaten to death in Bihar's Saharsa distt
SAHARSA, June 25 -- The 21-year-old son of a Lok Janshakti Party Ram Vilas (LJP-R) leader was allegedly beaten to death in Bihar's Saharsa district late Monday evening, police said. His mother, who tried to save him, was also badly thrashed and is currently undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital in Saharsa. Police suspect a land dispute as the reason behind the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Rakesh Kumar, son of Arun Yadav, the LJP-R block president of Salkhua block in Saharsa.
Arun Yadav told reporters that he was not at home in Deeh Tola under the jurisdiction of Salkhua police station when the attack took place. He alleged that his neighbours attacked his son with sticks and rods, beating him to death. When his 60-year-old wife, Rambha Devi, tried to intervene, she was also assaulted.
Yadav said he had a long-standing homestead land dispute with his neighbours, led by Kapurchand Yadav, and both sides had lodged complaints with the police earlier. "They have been pressuring us for a compromise while also threatening us with dire consequences," he alleged.
Rakesh, the youngest of three siblings, was employed at a private security company in Hyderabad. He had returned to the village about a month ago....
