PATNA, May 8 -- A joint team of Patna City police and special task force on Tuesday night arrested liquor mafia Jaykant on the JP Ganga Path. His two ex-servicemen bouncers and two drivers were also detained. DSP-2, Patna City, Gaurav Kumar said it was a great achievement for police that they arrested liquor mafia Jaykant against whom 32 criminals cases were lodged with different police stations in the state capital. The DSP said that Jaykant was arrested when he was on his way to attend a wedding late Tuesday night. "We have been tracking him for several days," the DSP said. Police sources said a joint team of STF and police chased and arrested Jaykant near Digha.The police began the chase and warned, 'Stop or we will shoot.' Out of fear for his life, Jaykant surrendered. However, no shots were fired from either side. "Two of his bouncers and two drivers were also detained. Both bouncers are ex-servicemen. Two rifles belonging to the former soldiers, bullets, and two vehicles were recovered," said a police officer. Police said Jaykant was a resident of the Chowk area in Patna City. He has around three dozen cases of liquor smuggling registered against him. It is also reported that a murder case has been filed against him. On February 23, 2025, his rival Anil Rai from Patna City allegedly opened fire on him in an attempt to kill him, but Jaykant survived. In 2022, he was lodged in Beur Jail. Due to his criminal background, the jail administration transferred him to Bhagalpur Jail in December 2022....
