Rudrapur, Dec. 14 -- A team of veterinarians from the forest department successfully tranquillised a leopard early on Saturday morning in a village in Champawat district, officials said. The leopard was caught near the Dhargada village in Barakot block, said Sunil Kumar, sub-divisional forest officer (SDO) Champawat. "We have caged it at the nearest forest outpost and are waiting for instructions to have it sent to a rescue centre," said Kumar, adding that the animal was male and 5 to 6 years old. The leopard was caught after the forest department deployed a team with camera traps and other related equipment near the village after a local, 45-year-old Dev Singh Adhikari, was killed in an attack by a leopard on December 9. "Samples collected from the scene of the killing were sent to the lab to ascertain a match," said the SDO, adding that the results were awaited.htc...
