KATIHAR, May 7 -- Nine people lost their lives and one was injured when the SUV in which they were travelling to attend a marriage ceremony lost balance and hit a stationary maize-laden tractor in Bihar's Katihar district on Monday night. Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar in a press note released from his office expressed deep concern over the loss of lives and wished speedy recovery of the injured undergoing treatment at the government medical college and hospital (GMCH) Purnia. The vehicle that rammed the tractor got mangled under the impact of the collision and the SUV was damaged beyond recognition. Katihar superintendent of police (SP) Vaibhav Sharma while confirming the incident said the bodies had been handed over to the families concerned after postmortem and a probe was underway. "There were ten people in the SUV and eight died on the spot while two were seriously injured and they are undergoing treatment at the GMCH Purnia," police said adding "After the postmortem, the bodies were handed over to their families." The marriage party members were on their way to Koshkipur in Katihar from Dhibra Bazar in Purnia when the SUV hit a stationary maize-loaded tractor at around midnight on Monday....
