Jamshedpur, Nov. 5 -- Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren's wife, Gandey MLA Kalpana Soren Murmu, on Tuesday sought votes for Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate Somesh Chandra Soren on sympathy and sops like Maiya Samman Yojna' (MSM) for the Ghatshila bypoll on November 11. "Dishom Guru Shibu Soren and Ramdas Soren left us within a few days. As if they had talked to each other.... and the shishya followed the guru (disciple followed his mentor) and went to their heavenly abode. Ramdas da fought shoulder to shoulder with Guruji for a separate state. Their lives are a story of a battle for rights. We are missing the vision and guidance of Ramdas da. Will you give Somesh Soren -- his son -- the place you gave to Ramdas da? Somesh is an engineer and committed to carrying forward the legacy of his father, fulfill the dream that Ramdas da had seen for Ghatshila," Kalpana Soren said, addressing two rallies in Galudih and Gudabandha on Tuesday. She started her speech with paying respect to Guruji Shibu Soren and Ramdas Soren's photos near the dais and after consoling a tearful Surajmani Soren, widow of late Ramdas Soren. And she spoke in Santhali, Hindi and Odia, strategically eyeing the majority Santhal community and Odias in the boder areas and Hindi for the urban populace. "You women strengthened the hand of your son-brother Hemant dada, no matter how big Central leaders came in 2024. Hemant dada has been working for women's empowerment mission ever since through schemes like MSM, Kishori Samriddhi Yojna, scholarships for higher education abroad, Sarv Jan Pension, electricity bill waiver and CM Excellence Schools. In fact, MSM has emerged as a benchmark for women empowerment and the nation is following it - be it Maharashtra or Delhi. How do you feel when Rs.2,500 comes to your account every month? Don't you feel stronger?" Kalpana asked the audience amid their cheerful agreement. "But struggle and battle never end for us tribals. Our icons Bhagwan Birsa Munda, Tilka Majhi, Sidho-Kanhu, Phulo-Jhano, Chand-Bhairav, Dishom Guru and many more among the families here also have shown and taught us how to fight for our rights.
