Haridwar, Aug. 24 -- The Kalgadi bailey bridge in Pabo block of Pauri Garhwal is set to reopen for heavy commercial vehicles from next week, more than a fortnight since it was swept away in monsoon floods on August 6, officials said on Saturday. The 45-metre long bridge, originally constructed in the 1970s, was rebuilt in record time, owing to its significance as a connecting bridge for Kumaon and Garhwal divisions, said district magistrate Swati S Bhadauriya. "The bridge was opened for light-medium vehicles from Thursday onwards," she added.
