BHABUA, June 16 -- A female police constable was shot at and critically injured when she was going to board a train with her husband on a bike at Kudra in Kaimur district on Sunday morning, police said. The injured constable was identified as Sarita Kumari of Bhitari Bandh village under Karamchat police station of Kaimur district. Her husband and two children lived in a rental house at Kudra market. She was posted in Supaul district police and had come home on leave, police said. The constable was going to Kudra station to board the Intercity Express for joining duty when two bike-borne miscreants intercepted and opened fire on her on the southern lane of GT Road underpass at 4.30am. The critically injured constable, having a bullet injury on back, was taken to Sadar Hospital at Bhabua, from where doctors referred her to Varanasi for specialised treatment. The victim told police that Ajay Paswan, also a constable and posted with Triveniganj police station in Supaul district, had fired on her. Ajay Paswan of Majhiaon village in Belaon police station area of Kaimur district was her relative, police said. Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Mohania, Pradeep Kumar said as the woman was not in condition of giving statement to police, a police team had been rushed to Varanasi to record her statement after her condition stabilised.
