Jharia man's killing a fallout of inter-state gang rivalry: SP
Dhanbad, Nov. 20 -- A day after unknown assailants gunned down a youth in broad daylight at Katras Mor under Jharia police station limits, police on Wednesday said the killing appeared to be the fallout of an inter-state gang rivalry linked to Bihar's Saran district.
According to officials, the deceased, identified as Prem Yadav, son of Sunil Rai of Phulwaria village in Saran, had been living in Jharia for over a month.
Briefing the media on Wednesday evening, city SP Ritwik Srivastava confirmed that Yadav was an accused in a double-murder case in Bihar.
He said, "Our preliminary investigation shows that the deceased had a criminal record in Bihar and was an accused in the October 2 double murder of Rahul Pandey and Suraj Pandey in Saran. He had been hiding in Jharia for several weeks."
He added police were examining the possibility of a retaliatory gang strike. According to investigators and CCTV footage obtained by the police, three assailants had been following Yadav on a motorcycle after he finished lunch at a local eatery around 3 pm on Tuesday.
"As he walked towards Katras Mor, the motorcycle approached him from behind, and the pillion rider fired two shots at his head from close range. The attackers sped away towards Dhanbad immediately afterwards," an official close to the probe said....
