PATNA, Aug. 28 -- Bihar's rural development minister Shravan Kumar, along with local Hilsa MLA Krishna Murari alias Prem Mukhiya -- both from Janata Dal (United) -- faced people's ire, and, according to accounts and viral videos, had to run to safety when by angry villagers chased them after they visited Malama village at around 10am on Wednesday to meet the kin of those killed in a road mishap in Patna on August 23. Viral videos show the minister almost running, clutching his dhoti , while security personnel and party workers struggled to shield him. This is the second time in three days that two ministers from the Nitish Kumar cabinet caught in the whirlwind of people's ire. Earlier on Monday, the cavalcade of health minister Mangal Pandey was attacked by an angry mob in Patna. Villagers were angry over the delay in payment of compensation to the kin of victims of a road accident in which nine people were killed, including eight women on Saturday while they were on their way to take a holy dip in the Ganga at Shahjahanpur police station of rural Patna. The minister cited other engagements but this did not go down well with the villagers and they got angry. "The villagers surrounded the local MLA and suddenly got violent, with many carrying lathis. They said that after the accident, they had lifted the road blockade on the assurance of the MLA, but the proper compensation had not yet reached the family," said a villager. Angry over delay in compensation, they blocked both the minister and the MLA and did not allow their vehicles to move. Some of them also attacked the vehicle as the minister took his seat. A security personnel also sustained injuries as he tried to shield the minister. The minister and the MLA were immediately escorted out by the security personnel and taken to a nearby village a kilometre away to avoid the fury. Almost running, they boarded a different vehicle and later a third vehicle to be whisked away to safety as the infuriated mob chased them. Later, Shrawan Kumar played down the incident, saying such situations do arise at times. "We have to face all this. Sometimes they clap for us when they like our statements, while sometimes they resent what they don't like," he added. He also added that a constable sustained injury in the incident. On Monday, health minister Mangal Pandey, who is from the BJP, had to face the people's wrath on Patna's Atal Path as an angry mob protesting over twin murders pelted stones at his vehicle and he had to flee....
