JD(U)-BJP dare Lalu to sack son permamently; 'drama': Tej's wife
PATNA, May 27 -- JD (U) and BJP have dared RJD national president Lalu Prasad and leader of opposition Tejashwi Yadav to write to the Speaker of Bihar assembly for getting Tej Pratap Yadav's membership terminated instead of doing eyewash by expelling him from the party and family.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Sunday expelled his elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, from the party for six years and also disowned him as part of the family after the former Bihar minister posted pictures on Saturday announcing that he had been in a long-term relationship with a woman. The post sparked controversy and questions started arising about his previous marital issues. The Hasanpur RJD MLA later claimed that his Facebook account was hacked.
"Tej Pratap is Lalu Yadav's son. This is not the first time he has shown indiscipline. Lalu Yadav was silent when the crime was committed against the granddaughter of former Bihar CM, Daroga Prasad Rai. Tejashwi Yadav is the leader of RJD in assembly. He should write to the Vidhan Sabha Speaker to cancel his membership. Lalu Prasad said that he has been expelled from the party and removed from the house and his son Tejashwi Yadav said that he is my elder brother. Don't play with words. Apply for direct termination of membership," dared JD (U) state spokesperson and MLC Neeraj Kumar on Monday. He questioned Lalu Prasad's sudden display of conscience, saying, "This is a matter of Lalu Prasad Yadav's family. When the granddaughter of Bihar's famous politician Daroga Prasad Rai was thrown out of the house, did your culture not awaken? And now, suddenly, your conscience has awakened?"
Neeraj also mocked the 'contradictory' messaging within the Yadav family. "Tejashwi Yadav says that Tej Pratap Yadav is our elder brother. What kind of cat-and-mouse game is this? Respecting daughters has been the culture of this country -- not just the politics of Bihar," he said, calling it the Yadam family episode a political spectacle.
JD(U)'s demand for termination of membership was backed by its alliance partner, the BJP. "Lalu family and his party, RJD, washed their hands off Tej Pratap's unethical acts by showing him the door. But many questions remain unanswered. Lalu Yadav is doing an eyewash. Laluji expelled Tej Pratap from his home and party citing his son's immoral act. If there is so much objection to Tej Pratap, then will Lalu Prasad and Tejashwi Yadav write to Bihar Assembly Speaker to end his membership? Was the action taken against Tej Pratap with the consent of the family? Is the action against Tej Pratap is an attempt to save RJD's politics? Is the action against Tej Pratap just a political showoff for an eyewash?," questioned BJP OBC Morcha's national general secretary Nikhil Anand.
Yadav had tied the knot with Aishwarya, granddaughter of former Bihar CM Daroga Rai. However, within a few months, Aishwarya left his house alleging that she was driven out by her husband and in-laws, and the couple's divorce petition is pending before the family court.
Tej Pratap's estranged wife joins the issue
Reacting to developments, RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav's estranged wife, Aishwarya Rai interacted with media recalled the trauma she underwent and called it a drama with elections in mind. "Why was my life ruined? Why was I beaten? Now they have suddenly had a social awakening. They are all together. They have not separated. The elections are near, that is why they have taken such a step and created this drama," said Aishwarya on Monday.
"Everyone knows what happened. If they (Lalu Prasad Yadav's family) knew the whole thing, then why did they get him married to me? I got information about my divorce from the media. All the information I got was through the media. Where was their social justice when I was beaten? They put the blame on me for everything. Now that it is out, he has had an affair for 12 years and blaming the woman is the easiest way out. When will I get justice? I will continue my fight," she added.
Lalu, Rabri leaves for Kolkata
Amid the turmoil in family, former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi left for Kolkata on Monday evening with their daughter Misa Bharti. Speaking about the developments, Patliputra RJD MP and Lau Prasad's eldest daughter Misa Bharti said, "Our party's national president and our father Lalu Prasad Yadav have made the stand clear. Apart from this, we have nothing else to say. On the allegations made by Tej Pratap's wife Aishwarya, she said that the matter is in court, so she will not say anything on this issue."...
