JD(U), BJP brainstorm on prospective candidates
PATNA, Oct. 9 -- As the NDA struggles to reach a respectable seat-sharing formula, the two main parties of the alliance, BJP and JD(U) mulled extensively on prospective candidates here on Wednesday.
Bihar election in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan and Vinod Tawde mulled names of candidates for seats it is likely to contest, while JD(U) also discussed names at a meeting at CM house.
The BJP on Wednesday discussed in detail the candidates once again for four hours. "Today was the third meeting of the election committee. We discussed the seats we could not win last time. Additionally, we have prepared a panel of three to four people for each constituency, which will be sent to the central leadership, and the candidates will be finalised after discussions there. They will complete this process in two-three days. Everything will be completed on time," said state BJP president Dilip Jaiswal. The BJP had contested 110 seats in 2020, winning 74 of them.
Bihar election co-incharge Keshav Prasad Maurya said seat sharing would be formalised very soon. Dy CM Samrat Choudhary said, "Under the leadership of PM Modi, NDA is completely united and holding talks. PM Modi and Nitish Kumar, Chirag Paswan, Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Upendra Kushwaha-all are in talks with BJP leaders. and in a very cordial atmosphere, and soon you all will receive good news," said Choudhary.
Union minister Giriraj Singh on Wednesday said Nitish Kumar was face of the NDA leadership.adding, "The policy, leadership and intention of the NDA are all fixed. There is no resentment." Union minister Nityanand Rai said, "NDA is fully prepared...the Nitish-led government, leaders and workers of NDA constituents are engaged day and night in serving people."
The JD(U) under CM Nitish Kumar also deliberated on candidates on Wednesday. Party leaders said nearly 30 names had been cleared. The meeting was attended by JD(U) national working president Sanjay Jha, Union minister Rajiv Ranjan alias Lalan Singh and minister Vijay Chowdhary....
