Ranchi, Jan. 22 -- Additional director general (ADG) of Jharkhand Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Priya Dubey, suspended eight police personnel for failing to ensure the court appearance of liquor scam accused Naveen Kedia, arrested in Goa on January 7 this year, officials said on Wednesday. "Inspector Vijay Kerketta, sub-inspectors, Shashi Kant and Rahul Kumar, assistant sub-inspector, Raju Ranjan, and four constables, were suspended on Tuesday, and a departmental probe was ordered against them. The action was taken after they failed to produce the arrested accused before the ACB court for trial," the official said. Another ACB official said,"Accused Agarwal was arrested on January 7 in Goa. and produced before a local court for transit remand. The court, after hearing the matter on Agarwal's request, granted him transit bail, directing him to surrender before the ACB court in Ranchi by January 12. Agarwal returned to his native town, Durg, (Chhattisgarh). In the meantime, the ACB office directed eight police officials to keep vigil on Agarwal, but they failed to do so. Agarwal escaped by taking advantage of the bail, did not surrender." ADG Dubey could not be reached for her comments on the matter....
