RANCHI, Dec. 21 -- Jharkhand health minister Irfan Ansari on Saturday offered a Rs.3 lakh job with the state government to Dr Nusrat Praveen, who has been at the eye of a political storm surrounding her hijab, invoking backlash from the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that accused the Congress leader of resorting to appeasement politics. The controversy around Dr Parveen kicked off after Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar was seen tugging at her hijab while handing over appointment letter to the latter in Patna on December 15. The incident triggered political reactions and criticism from opposition parties, including the RJD and Congress. Alleging that the Bihar CM Nitish Kumar tried to demean naqab and the Muslim community by removing the veil of a woman, Ansari offered a job, besides government flat and desired posting to the woman doctor. "I have invited the woman doctor to Jharkhand and offered her a job with Rs 3 lakh monthly salary, a flat, desired posting and full security," Ansari told reporters in Jamtara, the seat he represents in the Jharkhand Assembly. "The way a doctor and a woman was humiliated and treated with indecency by pulling her naqab is not merely an attack on one individual but a direct assault on human dignity, honour and the Constitution itself," he added. The opposition Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) meanwhile reacted sharply to the offer, questioning the health minister as to under which employment policy would job be given to the won doctor in Jharkhand. Jharkhand BJP vice president and former minister Bhanu Pratap Sahi also accused the Congress minister of resorting to appeasement politics. "Will you do and say anything if you are a minister. Under which employment policy will you give her a job in Jharkhand. And what will the unemployed youth of the state do? You are offering Nusrat a job just because she is a Muslim. This is height of appeasement. You should take back your words, or else the youth of this state would cause you to Bangladesh," the BJP leader said. Meanwhile, Congress' senior ally in the Jharkhand Government, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) distanced itself from the health minister's remark even as it underlined that Nitish Kumar should seek aplogy from the lady doctor. "The remark has been given in his personal capacity. This is not a decision of the goverment. But the incident in Bihar is codemnable for which the chief minister should apologise," said JMM spokesperson Manoj Pandey....
