RANCHI, Sept. 3 -- The Jharkhand Cabinet on Tuesday approved the regulations of the much-awaited Jharkhand State Displacement and Rehabilitation Commission, besides giving its nod for allocation of the official residence of former CM Shibu Soren to his wife Roopi Soren, people aware of the development said on Tuesday. The demand for the institution of Jharkhand State Displacement and Rehabilitation Commission had been a long standing political demand in the state, which aims to look into social,economic and welfare measures of land owners displaced due to development projects, including mining and other economic activities. Among the 66 proposals cleared by the Hemant Soren Cabinet , one is allocation of the Ranchi's Morabadi-based residence of Shibu Soren to his wife Roopi Soren. "The Cabinet approved the proposal of allocating the residence, provided for lifetime to former chief minister Shibu Soren, to his wife Roopi Soren after his death," Cabinet secretary Vandana Dadel said. JMM founder Shibu Soren died on August 4 while undergoing treatment at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi. He was 81. On August 28, the Assembly passed a resolution to send a proposal to the Centre recommending Bharat Ratna for the party patriarch. "The Cabinet approved the rules of the Jharkhand State Displacement and Rehabilitation Commission. As per the proposal, the Commission will have a chairman and two members.
