RANCHI, Aug. 27 -- Jharkhand assembly on Tuesday cleared five bills including the Jharkhand State University Bill, 2025, proposing to transfer the power to appoint Vice-Chancellors (V-Cs), pro-V-Cs, and financial advisors in the state universities from the governor to the state government. The Bill, which would also replace all other acts regulating the universities and would become an 'Umbrella Act' for the purpose, also proposes the establishment of Jharkhand State University Services Commission (JSUSC) for the appointments on all academic and non-academic posts in state varsities. Currently, the recruitment of all teaching and non-teaching staff in the state is conducted by Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). The other four bills cleared by the Assembly include Jharkhand Professional Educational Institutions (Fees Regulations) Bill, 2025, Jharkhand Coaching Centre (Control & Regulations) Bill, 2025, Jharkhand Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (Special Waivers) Bill, 2025 and Jharkhand Platform Based Gig Workers (Registration & Welfare) Bill, 2025.
