IVRS will assist pilgrims during Pitri Paksha Mela
GAYA JI, Aug. 27 -- The Bihar tourism department and district administration have set up an Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) to assist pilgrims from India and abroad during the upcoming Pitri Paksha Mela, officials said.
The automated phone system interacts with callers through pre-recorded voice prompts and keypad inputs, providing information or routing calls without requiring a human operator. Trained volunteers from Nehru Yuva Kendra are monitoring the service on the integrated number 9266628168, District Magistrate (DM) Shashank Subhankar said.
The system, being used for the first time in the 15-day mega event starting September 7, will record and monitor pilgrims' calls.
A daily compliance report will be prepared to prioritise suggestions and address grievances promptly, the DM added.
Inaugurating the IVRS control room at Vishnupad Temple on Tuesday, the DM said the facility would provide pilgrims information on routes, amenities, and communication.
