IRCTC scam: Del court summons Lalu, Rabri, Tejashwi on October 13
NEW DELHI, Sept. 25 -- A Delhi court on Wednesday asked former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi and son Tejashwi Yadav, to be present in person before the court on October 13, when it will pronounce its order on framing of charges in the IRCTC corruption case.
The order was passed by Special Judge Vishal Gogne of Rouse Avenue Court. He said that while the order on charge was currently under completion, the matter is being adjourned to October 13, when the order shall be pronounced at 10 AM.
"All accused persons are directed to appear physically before the court on the next date," the judge ordered.
The case involved allegations of conspiracy and corruption relating to granting of the operational contract of two IRCTC hotels to a private firm. Former Union Minister Prem Chand Gupta is also an accused.
According to the CBI chargesheet, between 2004 and 2014, a conspiracy was hatched in pursuance of which BNR hotels of the Indian Railways, which are located in Puri and Ranchi, were first transferred to IRCTC and later given on lease to Sujata Hotels Private Limited, which is based in Patna, for its operations, maintenance and upkeep.
CBI, represented by Special Public Prosecutor DP Singh, has alleged that the tender process has been rigged and manipulated to help Sujata Hotels.
Enforcement Directorate has also lodged a money laundering case against Prasad, wife Rabri Devi, Tejashwi and his daughter.
Based on the CBI case, the ED also lodged a case of money laundering against Prasad, Devi, Yadav and others, and the same is at the stage of arguments on charge.
Lalu and his family members are also accused in the land-for-jobs corruption and money laundering case, being investigated by the CBI and ED respectively....
