PATNA, Nov. 12 -- Security has been significantly heightened across major public places and critical installations in Bihar following the car explosion near Delhi's Red Fort on Monday. The entire state has been put on alert as polling for the second and final phase of elections began on Tuesday morning. Security has been beefed up at railway stations, bus terminals, and airports in Patna, Gaya, and Darbhanga, as well as at Metro stations, shopping malls, business centres, Takht Sri Harimandir Sahib, the UNESCO World Heritage Mahabodhi Temple, Mahavir Mandir, Indian Oil's refinery at Barauni, its terminal at Sipara, NTPC thermal power plants, and other key institutions. The Bihar Police Headquarters has declared a state-wide high alert as a precautionary measure. Officers have been instructed to maintain strict surveillance and ensure continuous monitoring. Barricades have been set up on key roads, with intensive vehicle checks carried out since Monday midnight to bolster security readiness. Additional police personnel have been deployed to identify and verify any suspicious individuals or activities.
