NEW DELHI, July 1 -- A day after the Opposition parties took part in the 'Waqf' rally organised by the Imarat-e-Shariah, the foremost Muslim organisation in Bihar, the BJP launched a scathing attack on them, saying that the Opposition is seeking to turn the Constitution into a "sharia script".
Taking a sharp dig at RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav who had said at the rally that the INDIA bloc government would junk the Centre's new Waqf law, BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said that Yadav was using the garb of "samajwaad" (socialism) to hide its "namazwaad".
Trivedi, while addressing a press conference in New Delhi, said that the INDIA bloc of the RJD-Congress-Left in Bihar has shown its disrespect for the Constitution, as the Act was passed by Parliament and is being adjudicated in the Supreme Court.
They respect neither Parliament nor the judiciary, he charged.
Trivedi added that the INDIA bloc is driven by vote bank politics, a euphemism for its outreach to Muslim voters....
