INDIA bloc to win grassroots via blocks
PATNA, May 31 -- The opposition INDIA bloc coalition in Bihar would be forming block level sub-committees by end of this month in all districts with representation of two leaders from each of the parties in the coalition in a bid to strengthen the grass-root level coordination among workers ahead of the forthcoming assembly polls.
RJD, Congress, three left parties and Vikashsheel Insaan Party( VIP) are the six major constituents of the INDIA bloc in Bihar , popularly called as Mahagathbandhan or Grand Alliance (GA).
The objective of such block level committees is twofold. One, to have better coordination among workers at the grass root level of all six parties in the INDIA bloc and secondly, have higher representation of party representatives at the polling stations. "In 2020 assembly polls, there was lack of coordination among workers of different parties in the grand alliance, a reason we suffered losses in certain seats. This time, we are taking new measures to strengthen the block and district level network by forming sub-committees," said a senior CPI-ML(liberation) leader, seeking anonymity.
The GA, recently, had formed sub-committees for campaign, social media, manifesto preparation and law related matters at the state level and district level sub-committees too is in the process of being formed, as per insiders in the opposition bloc. "We will complete the formation of block level sub-committees by end of this month. The process is going on," said another GA leader.
GA leaders said that the sub-committees at the block level would primarily have the role of putting party workers in maximum number of booths for the INDIA bloc candidates so that there is better monitoring of poll-related activities especially on election day and counting. Sources said that the common pool of workers from six parties to work in close coordination would help the GA to cover almost 77,000 polling stations in the coming assembly polls.
"Even if the polling stations increase as number of voters have been capped at 1,200 this election, we will have a big strength of polling agents or booth level agents drawn from all six parties," said a RJD leader,
More importantly, GA leaders are now gearing up to intensify the electoral campaign in Bihar from June onwards by taking up local issues like alleged unemployment, migration, the demand for hike in reservation limit in Bihar, etc. to corner Chief Minister Nitish Kumar led NDA government ahead of the polls. The CPI-ML(liberation) and other five parties are also set to support the countrywide bandh call on July 9th given by various trade union to protest against the proposed labour codes.
"We have the agenda to raise public issues be it unemployment, health facilities, migration , lack of industrialisation , non -fulfilment of promises made by NDA government in last many years and other matters in the run up to the polls. We want the poll narrative to be concentrated on burning issues of Bihar instead of any divisive agenda as pushed by the NDA,'" said Chittraranjan Gagan, RJD leader.
Bihar assembly polls are scheduled for October-November this year....
