PATNA, July 10 -- The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Wednesday hit out at the INDIA bloc leaders for organising Bihar bandh against the Special Intensive Revision of the voter list and accused them of "doing politics of the shoulders of bogus voters". "They want to do politics on shoulders of wrongfully registered voters, while the Election Commission of India's decision is to revise the electoral rolls and chuck them out. People should vote only where they live and there is nothing wrong with that. Does the Opposition want wrongly registered voters to vote?" asked BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad while talking to mediapersons in Patna. He said that Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav and others were roaming on the streets and they can do that, but I want to draw the attention of the country to some important issues. "In this country, MPs and MLAs are elected by only those who are the citizens of India. A voter should be above 18 years old and should live in the same place where he votes. I am the MP of Patna, I can't vote in Delhi because I'm not a voter there. So, if there is a revision of the voter list, then what is the problem?" he asked. Accusing the INDIA bloc protests as a "pressure tactics" ahead of the Supreme Court hearing on petitions challenging the ECI move on Thursday, he said that it was unfortunate that they did not even have faith in the judicial process and could not wait for the commencement of SC hearing. Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary said that Rahul Gandhi should himself resign and try to introspect how the Gandhi family damaged the democratic fabric of the country in family interest. "Why is he not saying this (rigging of polls) for Jharkhand, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, or Karnataka?... The Gandhi family did nothing for the public, so the public sent them home... These people used to appoint the Election Commission sitting in their homes. The onus of our country's plight lies on the Gandhi family. Today, if Bihar is backwards, people have fled out of fear; all this is the doing of Lalu Yadav and now both are together to do larger damage. One is a 'Rajkumar' of the Gandhi family, and the other is Lalu's Rajkumar." BJP's Shahnawaz Hussain said that the Congress and the RJD had made Election Commission a soft target and slammed Rahul Gandhi for using derogatory language against a constitutional body to gain cheap popularity. His statement came after Congress MP Rahul Gandhi alleged that the "NDA government is attempting a 'vote theft' in Bihar". "Bihar people are getting a taste of what RJD and Congress always did -- harass people in the name of a Bihar bandh. People are getting reminded of the pre-2005 Bihar when hooliganism was the order of the day , but Bihar people have rejected it outright this time. The bandh is nothing but a photo shoot opportunity for Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi," he added. JD-U state president Umesh Singh Kushwaha said that the Opposition's bandh call had no impact in Bihar, as the genuine voters could easily read their design. "They are desperate for power, but they are unable to read the pulse of the people, who are in no no mood to get back to those horror days of RJD regime," he assess He said the band got no response from the common masses and that reflected the mood of the state. "The people are no more interested in negative narrative. They move moved out of the era of booth capturing, when the marginalised sections were not even allowed to vote. The use of muscle power in election is passe and so the RJD will have greater disappointments in the days to come," he added. Kushwaha said that the two failed leaders were trying to mislead the people of Bihar with their failed narrative....
