This will be the first occasion in the history of Jharkhand that a serving chief minister will not be hoisting the national flag at Morhabadi ground, where the main function of the state government is held on Independence Day. As per convention, the chief minister hoists the national flag at Morhabadi on Independence Day, while the Governor unfurls the tricolour at Dumka, which is considered the second capital of the state. On Republic Day, the order is reversed, with the Governor doing the honours at Morhabadi, while the chief minister unfurls the tricolour in Dumka. "The state government had given the proposal to hoist the national flag at Morhabadi, which has been accepted by the Governor. Hence, the Governor will unfurl the national flag at the state function at Morhabadi on Independence Day," Raj Bhavan said in a statement....
