In a first, power tariffs may be cut across Maha for the next five years
Mumbai, Jan. 26 -- For the first time ever, electricity tariffs may be reduced for over 5 million consumers in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and 10 million others across the state. The tariff is proposed to be reduced by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for the next five years, whereas it usually raises tariffs by an average 9% year on year. The reduction would also apply to around 2 lakh consumers served by MSEDCL in Bhandup and Mulund, in Mumbai. In addition, the state power supplier has proposed a separate company for the 4.5 million farmers and agricultural consumers in the state....
