IMD predicts heavy rains, thunderstorm, gusty wind in 4 U'khand distts
Mussoorie, June 2 -- Very light to light rainfall, thunderstorm accompanied by squall and gusty wind were experienced at isolated places in the past 24 hours. However, the weather remained clear in most of the districts of the state on Sunday, officials said.
The state recorded 0.2mm of rain with 2mm in Tehri Garhwal, followed by 0.5mm in Pauri Garhwal and 0.3mm in Dehradun in 24 hours till 8.30am on Sunday. Beef village in Uttarkashi district recorded 5mm of rain, Pauri 2.2mm, Jolly Grant 1.8mm, Ranichauri in Uttarakhand in the 24 hours, they added.
Thunderstorm was reported in Mussoorie, Haripur, Dehradun, and Tehri, while the highest maximum temperature was recorded at 37.7degC at Pantnagar (Udham Singh Nagar) and the lowest minimum temperature was recorded at 12.8degC at Ranichauri (Tehri) in the past 24 hours, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD), Dehradun. The duty officer, IMD, Dehradun centre, said, "Heavy rains, thunderstorm accompanied with lightning, gusty winds (50-60 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Pauri and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand on Tuesday and people are advised to remain cautious and farmers have been advised to keep the harvested produce (if in the field) at safe place."
The current rainfall was due to a western disturbance and is likely to decrease after three days, leading to dry spells....
