Illegal mini gun factory busted in Bagaha police district, five held
BETTIAH, Oct. 29 -- A joint team of Dhanaha and Bhitaha police arrested five criminals allegedly involved in inter-district arms smuggling, busted an illegal mini gun factory, and seized a huge quantity of arms and ammunition during a raid in the district ahead of the assembly elections in the state, police said on Monday evening.
Bagaha's Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Kumar Devendra confirmed the busting of the mini gun factory and the arrest of the criminals.
"While one accused managed to escape, four were arrested. We recovered five firearms, seven live cartridges, and Rs.4,000 in cash," said the SDPO.
Those arrested have been identified as Kunal Choudhary, Shankar Choudhary, Sonu Gupta, and Krishna Choudhary - all residents of the Dhanaha area in Bagaha police district.
Based on the inputs received, police later raided a location under Bhitaha police station limits, arrested another man, and seized three unfinished firearms, one country-made pistol, and other illegal arms manufacturing equipment, the SDPO added.
"Prima facie, it appears that they were part of an organised gang involved in the smuggling of arms in neighbouring districts. We are looking into the matter," said a police officer....
