PATNA, Dec. 5 -- Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Patna, clinched the top honour at the Eastern Region I regional round of the prestigious NTPC Electron Quiz 2025-26, held at the Urja auditorium here on Thursday. The winning team comprised Akhand Pratap Singh and Anirudh D Bhatt. Pradosh Basu and Shivanshu S Das, also from IIT-Patna, secured the second position while the team of Aman Kumar and Shivani Singh from Government Engineering College, Vaishali, bagged the third place. The event began with an on-the-spot written preliminary round in the morning. Teams from IIT-Patna (two teams), Government Engineering College-Vaishali, Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Institute of Technology-Chapra, Chandragupta Institute of Management-Patna, and Shershah Engineering College-Sasaram qualified for the high-energy audio-visual final round. The final was conducted by renowned quiz master Bivash Rath from Delhi. A total of 123 teams, each comprising two students, participated in the competition. IIT-Patna, MIT-Muzaffarpur, BIT-Mesra (Patna campus), Chandragupta Institute of Management, Patna, Bakhtiyarpur College of Engineering and several other leading technical and management institutes across Bihar participated in the event. The top two teams from the regional round will now advance to the semi-final and national final, scheduled to be held in Noida on December 18 and 19, respectively. Vijay Goel, regional executive director (east-I), NTPC; TN Singh, director, IIT-Patna; and Sangeeta Goel, president, Sujata Ladies Club, jointly presented cash prizes of Rs.60,000, Rs.40,000, and Rs.20,000 to the top three teams....
