PATNA, Aug. 14 -- Bihar government's home department has given its approval to set up cyber forensic units at the Forensic Science Laboratory (Patna) and Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (Rajgir) at an estimated cost of Rs.13.66-crore. The home department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Forensic Science Laboratory (NFSU), Gandhinagar (Gujarat), for imparting scientific training to the personnel, academic collaboration and research. Additional director general, CID, Paras Nath, on Wednesday said that the move was aimed at adding teeth to police investigation into rapidly changing profile of crime and criminals, which has made cyber crime an emerging challenge. The NFSU, an institution of national importance under the ministry of home, Government of India, has its nine campuses across the country, besides an overseas campus. "The units would help in creating trained manpower and speeding up the pace of solving crimes and improving conviction rate through modern scientific investigations. The NFSU has been made the mentor institution and will help in developing the modern facilities and manpower," he added.
