Highway robbers' gang leader arrested
SASARAM, July 26 -- The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Rohtas police arrested the leader of a notorious highway robbers' gang on Friday, officials said.
The arrested gang leader has been identified as Ashok Singh alias Ashok Yadav. A looted CNG vehicle, allegedly used by the gang to pose as common passengers during their crimes, and several mobile phones were recovered from his possession.
The SIT, led by Sasaram Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Dilip Kumar, apprehended Yadav and his associate Nitish Kumar near Lanji bridge under Chenari police station area.
A resident of Pakhnari village under Shivsagar police station limits, Yadav was wanted in more than 20 cases of dacoity and highway robbery across multiple police station areas, including Chenari, Kudra, Shivsagar, Darigaon, and Kargahar. He had been active in the region since 2016, frequently targeting trucks and other vehicles on National Highways 19 (GT Road) and 30, said Rohtas SP Raushan Kumar....
