MADHEPURA, June 1 -- A 37-year-old government school teacher was shot dead while he was returning from school along with his colleague on a bike in Bihar's Madhepura on Saturday, police said. The teacher, identified as Ramtahal Das, a resident of Karhara village under Gualpara police station, got married one year ago and was living along with his wife in a rented house. Das was posted as Hindi teacher at Sonbarsha High School under Shankarpur block of the district. He became high school teacher after clearing BPSC. According to police the teacher was returning home from school on a bike with his colleague Ravi Ranjan Kumar when three criminals on a bike stopped them near Lalpur village under Singheshwar police station and shot him from close range. "The criminals shot him thrice and he died immediately," police said. The teacher accompanied him however managed to escape. Police meanwhile sent the body to Madhepura district hospital for postmortem. Additional superintendent of police (ASP)Pravendra Bharti, who rushed to the site, said police would look into the case from all angles. He didn't ruled out the possibility of family feud behind it. Sources within police declaring it a case of fratricide said, "The teacher got married against the wish of his elder brother Bechan Yadav and this later resulted in sharp differences between the two."...
