HC seeks govt reply on double detention of Religious leader
Ranchi, Dec. 26 -- The Jharkhand High Court directed the state government to file an affidavit explaining the circumstances under which a Hindu religious leader, Bhairav Singh, was put under preventive detention twice for the same offence.
An advocate close to the matter said the order was passed on December 23 after Singh filed a writ petition for quashing Ranchi deputy commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri's order declaring him 'antisocial element' and thus put under preventive detention in terms of section 12(ii) of Jharkhand Crime Control Act, 2002....
