HC judge seeks help of lawyers in quick disposal of cases
BHABUA, Aug. 3 -- Expressing concern over the rising number of pending cases in the district and sub-divisional courts of Kaimur, Patna High Court Judge Justice Sunil Dutt Mishra on Saturday emphasized the crucial role of advocates in the timely disposal of cases, especially in matters impacting common people and vulnerable communities.
Addressing a gathering of lawyers at the Bar Association Hall in Bhabua, Justice Mishra, who also serves as the Inspecting Judge of Kaimur judgeship, said that the Bar and Bench complement each other and are equally vital to the justice delivery system.
"Advocates are officers of the court, and their cooperation and sound knowledge of the law are decisive for ensuring quick and equitable justice," he said.
He urged lawyers to actively assist courts in resolving long-pending cases in the larger interest of justice.
During the event, Bar Association General Secretary Mantu Pandey highlighted the hardships faced by litigants in electricity department-related cases, who are forced to travel nearly 180 km to reach the Special Court in Gaya.
He appealed for district-wise hearings of such cases to ease the burden on litigants.
Responding to the issue, Justice Mishra said the state government could address the matter through a cabinet decision.
Principal District and Sessions Judge Anurag, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Secretary Suman Saurav, Bar Association President Ravindra Nath Chaubey, and General Secretary Mantu Pandey were among those present on the occasion....
