JODHPUR, May 1 -- The Rajasthan high court on Wednesday stopped the state government from giving scholarships under the E3 category of the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Scheme, saying public money is being misused to benefit children of wealthy and influential families instead of the poor and deserving students. The decision came while hearing a plea filed by Manjeet Deora, a 20-year-old student from Sirohi, who went to study at the University of Western Australia. She had been provisionally selected under the E1 category of the scheme meant for families earning less than Rs.8 lakh per year.
