PATNA, Dec. 23 -- Bihar Governor Arif Mohammed Khan on Monday said that in the fast changing world, innovators, people with new ideas and those ready to push boundaries embrace success, not those equipped with redundant conventional knowledge. "The purpose of education is to free us from all prejudices and presuppositions. The aim of a university is to liberate us from biases. It is not just to transmit information," he said after inaugurating the AIU East Zone VCs Meet 2025-26 at the Aryqbhatt Knowledge University (AKU) in Patna. The Governor said that the purpose of the education must be understood, as that alone could rid the world of all the ills. "Our universities should keep the Indian perspective in mind that we are not different from each other, we should not be alienated from each other. There is an invisible spiritual bond," he added. The AIU meet, with the theme "promoting sustainability and social responsibility in higher education institutions", features different technical sessions and conclude on Tuesday. Education minister Sunil Kumar, rural work minister Ashok Choudhary, AIU president Vinay Kumar Pathak, AIU secretary Pankaj Mittal and host AKU VC Sharad Kunar Yadav also spoke on the occasion. VCs from several universities from outside Bihar and those from within the state attended the meeting. Technical Session-I focused on 'research & innovation in HEIs for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)', while the second and third sessions would deliberate on 'digital & technological pathways for sustainable higher education' and 'University Social Responsibility (USR) and Swadeshi, strengthening the societal role of HEIs' respectively....
