BHABUA, Aug. 14 -- A Gram Kachhari Secretary of Kharenda Panchayat under Belaon police station limits in Kaimur district has been booked for allegedly cheating a woman of Rs.20 lakh on the pretext of getting her a job, and later killing her, police said. The deceased, Pushpa Kumari (27), was a resident of Bharkhar village under Mohania police station. Her mother, Rajkumari Devi, lodged a complaint against the accused, Roshan Kumar, at Bhabua Town police station on Wednesday. As per the complaint, Pushpa, who was married to Praveen Kumar Ram of Kharenda village a few years ago, had been living separately due to marital disputes. During this period, she came in contact with Roshan, the secretary of the local Gram Kachhari. He allegedly lured her with promises of making her an officer, prompting her to file a case against her husband in Mohania court. Roshan reportedly kept her in Patna for a B.Ed course and preparations for the Bihar Public Service Commission, later demanding Rs.20 lakh from her father as a bribe to secure the promised job. To arrange the money, her father, Ramlal Ram, sold his land in Syedraja, Uttar Pradesh, for Rs.16 lakh and deposited the amount in Pushpa's bank account, adding another Rs.4 lakh through a loan. The accused allegedly took the entire sum and eventually killed her. Police said Pushpa had returned home from Patna for a court hearing on Tuesday....
