Govt school teacher shot in Bihar, critical
SAHARSA, Aug. 11 -- A government school teacher was shot at when he resisted a loot bid in Bihar's Saharsa on Sunday.
Police said the teacher, identified as Binod Kumar Mandal, was going to Saharsa to meet his daughter when the incident took place. The teacher was undergoing treatment and his condition was stated to be critical, they added.
Sub divisional police officer (SDPO) Alok Kumar said 45-year-old Binod, a resident of Bhan village under Ghelarh police station of Madhepura district, was shot when he resisted a loot bid by two motorcycle-borne assailants near railway bridge under Baijnathpur police station.
He said the teacher was shot in both his legs and a hand. Police had launched a manhunt to jab the criminals and CCTV footage was being scrutinised to establish the identity of the criminals.
He said police had recorded the statement of the teacher undergoing treatment at Lord Buddha Medical College and Hospital in Saharsa.
