DARBHANGA, May 29 -- A government school teacher was shot dead by unidentified assailants in broad daylight on Wednesday morning in Darbhanga district, police said. Police further said that the incident occurred on Bharwara-Kamtaul road under the jurisdiction of Singhwara police station of the district when Mansoor Alam (55), an Urdu teacher posted at the Rasulpur Nista Primary School since 2006, was on his way to school on a bicycle. Following the incident, panic gripped the area. Alam, a native of Parsouni village under Bisfi police station in Madhubani district, had been residing in a rented house in Bharwara Shankarpur area for several years. According to eyewitnesses, bike-borne criminals intercepted him and opened fire. One bullet struck his head and another hit his shoulder, causing him to collapse on the road along with his bicycle. He died on the spot. Local residents expressed shock over the killing, stating that Alam was known to be soft-spoken and had no known enmity with anyone. The motive behind the brutal murder remains unclear. Upon getting information about the incident, the local police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. Meanwhile, the victim's family members have been informed. Officers have also questioned fellow teachers at the school. Sub-divisional police officer (Sadar- 2) Jyoti Kumari, who is supervising the investigation, said, "We are thoroughly investigating the matter from all angles. The case will be cracked very soon."...
