PATNA, June 11 -- Deputy chief minister Samrat Chaudhary on Tuesday said that providing pucca houses to 1,308 families of particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs) under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyay Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) is among the top priorities of the state government. Talking to media persons after the cabinet meeting, which approved the scheme, Chaudhary said that this scheme is a symbol of the commitment of the double engine government, under which concrete steps are being taken towards providing socio-economic justice to vulnerable communities. The deputy CM said that Bihar has been included in this scheme through a letter issued by the Union Ministry of Rural Development on April 29, 2025. The Scheduled Caste and Tribe Welfare Department has identified families of the Asur, Birhor, Birjia, Hilkharia, Korwa, Malpahadia, Parhaiya, Sauriyapahadia and Sawar tribes in 10 districts of the state-Banka, Kaimur (Bhabua), Bhagalpur, Gaya, Katihar, Kishanganj, Madhepura, Nawada, Purnia and Supaul-who will benefit from the scheme. Beneficiaries of the PM-JANMAN scheme will receive Rs.2.00 lakh for the construction of houses, compared to the current grant of Rs.1.20 lakh in three installments under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural).
