Jamshedpur, Nov. 10 -- The campaigning for the Ghatshila bypoll slated for November 11 came to an end at 5pm on Sunday. Now 256,000 voters will vote to decide the fate of mainly JMM and BJP candidates. The East Singhbhum DC and DEO Karn Satyarthi and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Piyush Pandey declared the beginning of the silence period in a joint press conference on Sunday evening. "All political workers who are not voters of Ghatshila have been alerted earlier to leave Ghatshila by 5pm today. Any rally, roadshow, campaign through loudspeakers will attract legal actions. All liquor shops have been closed for the next 48 hours till 5pm on November 11 under section 26 of the Excise Act. Entry and exit of all heavy vehicles will be barred on November 10 and 11. The polling parties will leave for Ghatshila from Jamshedpur Cooperative College stringrooms on November 10 morning. The polling parties will return to Jamshedpur after the voting on November 11. No heavy vehicles will be allowed to move in or out between 4.30am and 11.30pm on November 10 and 11," Satyarthi said. SSP Piyush Pandey said that the police have started intense checking in hotels, lodges, marriage halls etc in Ghatshila assembly constituency after 5 PM Sunday. This apart intensive vehicle checking was also ongoing. All the inter-state borders have been sealed," said Pandey. The DC and the SSP further informed that the license of 100 licensed firearms would be cancelled as they didn't deposit their arms. "A total of 1,233 persons have deposited their firearms. 19 illegal weapons and 34 cartridges have been seized while non-bailable warrants have been issued against 600 persons. 52 persons have been arrested under the NDPS Act preventive detention of 938 persons have been carried out," said Pandey. "Mock polling on November 11 will be held at 5.30 AM and actual polling will start at 7 AM and continue till 5 PM. Rs.3.30 crore cash has been seized so far during vehicle checking. Web casting will be done from all the 300 booths and dry run of the ECINet has also been done successfully. 186 of the 300 booths have been identified as critical where police and the security forces will keep a close vigil. Micro observers have been deputed at 30 booths and 10 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed in the Ghatshila assembly constituency," said the DC....
