Gehlot exhorts voters to trust 'reliable' Tejashwi and change govt
PATNA, Nov. 5 -- Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday urged Bihar's voters to bring about a change of government in the spirit of democracy, appealing to them to trust young Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav over the "uncertain" chief minister Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's unfulfilled promises.
Talking to media persons here on the final day of campaigning for the first phase's 121 Assembly seats polling on November 6-Gehlot, flanked by AICC Media and Publicity Chairman Pawan Khera, sharpened the opposition's attack on the NDA.
Gehlot positioned 35-year-old Yadav, the RJD heir and former deputy CM, as the reliable face of transformation. Emphasising accountability, Gehlot argued Yadav would deliver on the Mahagathbandhan's manifesto-10 lakh jobs, women's quotas, and caste surveys-because failure would "kick him out and jeopardize his career." "None materialized. Instead of 20-year Bihar or 11-year Centre report cards, they peddle lies as election vows," Gehlot said, tying it to Bihar's 7.6% unemployment (NSSO data) and migration crisis.
On Nitish, Gehlot painted a grim picture: "The BJP has confined him as a puppet. Even if NDA wins, no one knows if he'll retain the CM chair."...
