Gaya likely to become major industrial hub of eastern India
PATNA, July 31 -- A state-of-the-art integrated manufacturing cluster is being set up in Dobhi block (Sherghati sub-division) of Gaya ji district under a joint initiative of the Government of Bihar and the Centre. This ambitious project is part of the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme run by the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor.
Industry minister Nitish Mishra expressed deep happiness and thanked the PM for making his dream come true.
The responsibility of implementing this project has been given to Bihar Integrated Manufacturing City Gaya Limited, a special purpose vehicle formed in partnership with BIADA (state government agency) and NICDC (Government of India unit). This cluster is being developed with the aim of providing a planned and comprehensive industrial infrastructure in the state.
The aim of this industrial city being developed at a cost of Rs.1,339 crore is to establish Gaya as a major industrial hub of eastern India.
Out of this, Rs.462.14 crore has been spent only on land acquisition. Construction of state-of-the-art infrastructure is proposed under this cluster being developed on about 1,670 acres land.
Tenders have been issued for (EPC) works under the project at an estimated cost of Rs.675 crore. EPC works will include construction of internal roads, drainage system, electrical sub-station, effluent treatment plant (ETP), sewage treatment plant (STP), solid waste management facilities, administrative and command centres and facilities for public and semi-government use.
All these works will be completed in three years and after this the responsibility of maintenance will remain with the contractor for four years.
Under this project, various sectors are being prioritised for industrial investment, which include agro and food processing, readymade garments, automobile components, steel-based products, aerospace and defence, construction materials, furniture, handicrafts and handlooms.
In addition, the process of appointment of Programme Manager for New Cities (PNMC) has been completed and its mandate has been issued.
PMNC will play a key role in project management, monitoring and technical support to ensure quality in overall implementation.
This cluster will not only provide state-of-the-art facilities and favourable environment to investors, but also create extensive employment opportunities for local youth. This initiative of the Bihar government is a step towards making the state self-reliant, industry-oriented and economically strong. This project will give Gaya a new identity on the industrial map of India as well as accelerate regional development....
