Gaya Ji youth murder: Main shooter injured in shootout with cops
GAYA JI, Oct. 25 -- Main shooter of the daylight murder of a 19-year-old youth in Gaya Ji on the day of Diwali, was injured in an encounter with police on Friday. Three of the four shooters involved in the murder were arrested, police said.
Subhash Kumar of Bairagi Muhalla under Kotwali police station of the religious town, had gone to purchase some Diwali items when around 8am, he was surrounded by four armed assailants in a lane. They reportedly drew out pistols and shot him four times. Subhash died on the spot and the assailants escaped, waving the weapons.
Father of the deceased, Upendra Paswan alleged that Gaya Ji mayor Ganesh Paswan and ward councillor Kundan Kumar, in inimical terms with his family for voting against them, had hatched the murder conspiracy and hired the assailants to kill hi son.
The father registered a case against the mayor, ward councillor and 10 others, city superintendent of police (SP) Ramanand Kumar Kaushal said.
SSP Anand Kumar formed an SIT assisted by FSL and technical teams. Police identified five accused involved in the murder with the help of CCTV and ground intelligence.
On Friday morning, the SIT zeroed in the shelter of three accused at Bakraur village and raided the place. Main shooter Bunty Paswan who had first opened fire on the victim, and his associates Billa alias Nitish Kumar and Rohit alias Mundi were arrested.
They led the SIT to an agricultural field at Asani village for recovery of the firearms used in the murder.
Bunty Paswan there opened fire on the police team during the search and tried to escape. The police promptly retaliated and he sustained bullet injuries in both his legs. A pistol was also recovered and the injured was rushed to Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital where he was undergoing treatment in police custody, SSP Anand Kumar said.
Police were interrogating the two arrested shooters and trying to identify the persons who conspired the murder and arranged the firearms and resources.
The FSL team had been sent to the encounter site to collect evidence, the SSP said....
