Gangster's murder: JD(U) attacks RJD for patronising criminals
PATNA, Sept. 15 -- The murder of a gangster, who faced over three dozen crime cases, in Bihar's Siwan district in a filmi style over what the police said was a land dispute, has taken serious political overtones in the poll-bound state, bringing the RJD and the JD(U) face to face on the crucial law & order issue.
JD(U) spokesperson and MLC Neeraj Kumar on Sunday hit out at RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav for pointing fingers on law & order in the wake of the murder of gangster Lali Yadav on Monday last, saying his own party leaders were named accused in the incident and that was enough to unravel the truth.
"Tejashwi runs a crime syndicate and gives patronage to criminals, as has been the trend of his party. He has no moral right to raise questions on law and order, which remains the USP of the Nitish government," Neeraj Kumar said at a press conference, sharing the pictures of the accused in the case with RJD leaders.
"The wife of the victim has said in the FIR that her husband was eliminated as part of a conspiracy over land dispute. Brajesh Singh and Shashi Bhushan Raj have emerged as main conspirators in probe and both are RJD leaders. Rai was election agent of former RJD MP late Md Shahabuddin thrice. What else is needed to establish the nexus?" asked Neeraj.
"Tejashwi Yadav does not have the moral to speak on law & order, as he and his party have been the established patrons of criminals," he added, showing a picture of Brajesh Singh with RJD chief Lalu Prasad.
Md Shahabuddin's son Osama had also gone to meet the family of the victim after the incident. A day later Tejashwi also went there with Osama and other senior party leaders Awadh Bihari Choudhary, who is also from Siwan, and Abdul Bari Siddiqui to meet the victim's family members. Other opposition leaders also went there.
The RJD has been targeting the law and order issue for months now and Tejashwi has also been issuing crime bulletins to win the perception battle on deteriorating law and order, the way it had worked for the NDA in 2005 in the wake of unbridled abductions and murders.
Siwan SP Manoj Tiwari said a special investigation team (SIT) had been formed and raids were on to nab the accused named in the FIR lodged by the victim's family. "The investigation is on. Lalu Yadav himself faced 38 cases. The accused have fled, but search has been intensified to nab the killers," he added.
RJD spokesman Ezaz Ahmad said, "JD(U) cannot escape the truth of collapsing law and order hiding behind Tejashwi. They are living in the past, but they should answer about the present as who is patronising criminals. There are 23 tainted ministers in Nitish cabinet, as per ADR report. JD(U) should speak about Mokama politics. How a Central minister moves with a person, who also visits CM's residence? Why do they not talk about him?" he asked, in an oblique reference to former Mokama MLA Anant Singh....
