PATNA, Aug. 25 -- Ganga Aarti, one of the major tourist attractions in the state capital, has been stopped due to rising water level of river Ganga at Gandhi Ghaat in the city. The Bihar state tourism development corporation (BSTDC) has announced that the evening ceremony would remain suspended till further orders.

Scores of Patnaites have been gathering at the Gandhi Ghaat every Saturday and Sunday to attend this evening ceremony held by the BSTDC for the last several years. And in the initial years of this arrangement, tourists were also offered the facility to witness the rituals and illumination from the MV Ganga Vihar, a cruise that the BSTDC had purchased for cruise trips and got it stationed at the Gandhi Ghaat.
