GA accuses NDA of promoting dynasty
PATNA, June 3 -- The Congress party and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), that together forms the opposition bloc called Grand Alliance (GA), on Monday attacked the Nitish Kumar-led ruling dispensation for pursuing dynastic politics in the constitution of various commissions.
On Saturday night, the general administration department (GAD) had notified reconstitution of the state scheduled caste commission, naming Dhanjay Kumar alias Mirnal Paswan as its chairman and Devendra Manjhi as its vice chairman. Mrinal Paswan is the step brother in-law of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan, while Devendra Manjhi is son in-law of Hindustani Awam Morcha-Secular (HAM-S) leader Jitan Ram Manjhi.
"The way close relatives of NDA leaders are being accommodated in various commissions is a clear hit that the BJP and its allies are indulging in promoting dynastic politics. Contrarily, they accuse the Congress, a thoroughly democratic party, of engaging in nepotism," alleged a senior Congress leader Kishore Kumar Jha.
Jha further cited the example of sons of Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Prem Kumar Dhumal, and other senior BJP leaders accommodated on plum posts in the government and the party to buttress his claims. "Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi hardly look beyond their families. Other dedicated leaders in the LJP(RV) and HAM-S have always been sidelined, when it came to offering positions in the government or tickets to contest the elections," added Jha.
The RJD also hit out at the Janata Dal (United), BJP, LJP(RV) and HAM-S for adjusting relatives of its leaders in the commissions. In a Facebook post, the RJD said all these parties (NDA constituents) have set up Jija-Sala, Sasur-Damad, Beta-Bhatija commission. They have also constituted a 'jhunjhuna' commission ahead of the state elections, read the post.
Apart from the chairman and vice chairman, the GAD also notified Lalan Ram ( of Aurangabad), Rubel Ravidas and Ajit Kumar Chaudhary (of Patna), Sanjay Kumar (Nalanda), Ram Naresh Kumar (Vaishali), Ishwar Rajak (Bhojpur) and Mukesh Manjhi (Munger) as members of the SC commission.
Officials said that the chairman and vice chairman of the commissions enjoy status of a state minister, whereas members have the status of a deputy minister. The state government had in April this year hiked the pay and perks by 30% of those enjoying the status of ministers of state and deputy ministers.
RJD spokesman Mrityunjay Tiwari alleged that the ruling parties were making hurried attempts to reach out to various communities by reconstituting different commissions. "It is a political move and people of the state knew the intent of the ruling dispensation. Marginalised sections are mobilising fast in favour of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) parties due to the anti-people policies of the BJP and JD(U)," alleged Tiwari.
The government also notified the reconstitution of the fishermen's commission and Mahadalit commission. Lallan Kumar of East Champaran and Ajit Chaudhary have been named the chairman and vice-chairman of the fishermen's commission, whereas Manoj Kumar from Katihar has been named chairman of Mahadalit commission....
