Jaipur, May 19 -- At least four people were killed and eight sustained injuries in Rajasthan's Dungarpur on Saturday night when a speeding truck allegedly rammed bystanders while they were trying to get a car out after it got stuck inside a pothole, officers aware of the matter said on Sunday, adding that the truck driver is absconding. According to station house officer of Sabla police station Raghuveer Meena, "The incident took place at around 11.45pm on Saturday when a car carrying eight to 10 passengers got stuck in a pothole on a road near the Pindaval village bus stand. The inmates of the car were heading towards Pindaval from Dungarpur city to attend a wedding function." "After the front tyres of the car got stuck inside a pothole, all the passengers got off while another 10 to 15 local passersby joined them to help," he said. Meanwhile, the Gujarat-bound truck from Pratapgarh lost control due to overspeeding and hit the people gathered at the spot, he added. Several senior police officers, including additional SP Ashok Meena, Aspur DSP Hanuman Singh Bhati, and local police teams from three nearby police stations, Sabla, Aspur, and Dobra, reached the spot, police said. "The victims were rushed to hospital where four of them were declared dead on arrival," said Meena.
