Four held with AK-47 rifle, cartridges: Cops
PATNA, Aug. 25 -- Four people were arrested with an AK-47 rifle and several cartridges from Amanabad Sonnadi under the jurisdiction of Bihta police station on Sunday, police said, adding that their accomplices managed to escape.
Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya K Sharma said the arrests followed information that the Sanjay Singh gang was extorting money from boatmen after opening fire to create terror. The gang was also involved in illegal sand mining, he added.
During the raid, four accused - Sanjay Rai, Sonu Kumar Singh, Ajit Kumar, and Yash Kumar - were arrested. Police also recovered two cell phones from their possession.
The SSP said raids are continuing to nab the remaining gang members.
